
K-Line Maintenance & Construction
We currently have an opportunity available to be based out of Central Ontario for the position of Red Seal Powerline Technician (IBEW Union Local 353 Position).
Responsibilities
- Maintain personal and group safety at all times
- Be a positive team member through open communication with the crew and active
participation in crew tasks - Install, repair, troubleshoot and maintain electrical distribution and transmission systems
including overhead and underground power lines and cables, insulators, conductors, lightning
arrestors, switches, transformers and other associated equipment - Perform line maintenance in a safe and efficient manner utilizing de-energized, rubber glove,
live line hot stick or live line bare hand techniques - Erect and maintain steel, wood or concrete poles, towers and guy wires
- Read and interpret prints, maps, drawings and other trade documents
- Inspect and test overhead and underground power lines, cables and auxiliary equipment using
electrical test equipment - Safely operate heavy duty utility equipment including Radial Boom Derricks (R.B.D), bucket
trucks, and related equipment as required - Maintain good public relations with persons inside and outside the company
- Respond to unscheduled outages as the result of weather, component failures, etc.
- Respond to on-call duties when required, with a maximum of 1-hour response time
Experience and Education
- Powerline Technician Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate
- Valid DZ Driver’s License or higher
Skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively work on teams and mentor apprentices
- Ability to climb poles, work at heights and work in extreme weather conditions for extended
periods of time - Ability to operate bucket trucks and R.B.D’s efficiently
- Strong communication, leadership, team work and customer service skills
- Ability to interpret drawings, develop/ interpret work, and plan projects for self and others
- Excellent problem-solving skills
