We are seeking a Foreperson to join our team based out of Stouffville, Ontario

Job Overview

The Foreperson is required to oversee and assist in the construction, installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of electrical power transmission, distribution systems, and communication networks; including substations and services. The Foreperson works to ensure customers will receive the right delivery of products and services in agreed upon time frames with the utmost consideration for safety. The Foreperson will drive and operate line trucks and associated auxiliary equipment, as well as serve as a member of a line crew responsible for maintenance and repair of both overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. The Foreperson is responsible for mentoring apprentices and ensuring a safe working environment for all work they have been assigned either in the field at customer sites or on K-Line premises.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the crew ensuring safety is a top priority.
  • Oversee the installation, repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical distribution and transmission systems including overhead power lines and cables, insulators, conductors, switches, transformers and other associated equipment.
  • Oversee the erecting and maintaining of steel, wood or concrete poles, towers and guy wires.
  • Read and interpret blueprints or process specifications and keep abreast on job/project targets and specifications.
  • Respond to unscheduled outages on an as required basis.
  • Perform technical inspections on electrical equipment and maintain assigned equipment in safe and operable conditions.
  • Prepare and submit required documentation and ensure compliance to corporate safety, quality and operational processes, standard operating practices, and targets.
  • Provide high quality leadership to all subordinates.
  • Stakeholder communication including formal reporting on progress and the attainment of milestones on specific jobs and projects.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Powerline Technician Certificate is required
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience as a Certified Powerline Technician
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience supervising distribution line work
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Completion of Post-Secondary education is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively work with team and mentor subordinates
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret drawings, develop/interpret work, and plan projects for self and others
  • Sound knowledge of approved methods, materials and tools used in line construction and maintenance work
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Valid DZ license

This posting is for an existing vacancy. Hourly rate: $64.75, subject to future increases governed by the applicable IBEW wage schedule. K-Line does not use AI technology in our recruitment process.
